Speaker
Dr Kenneth Man
Assistant Professor/lecturer
University College London School Of Pharmacy
Symposium Moderator
Biography
Kenneth is a lecturer/assistant professor and Chartered Statistician at the UCL School of Pharmacy. He uses large, real-world datasets to evaluate how medicines work in practice—how safe, how effective, and for whom. His work sits at the intersection of statistics, pharmacoepidemiology, child and perinatal health, and mental health. He has authored over 160 peer-reviewed papers, and his findings appear in more than 90 policy citations from organisations including the World Health Organization, NICE, and the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Kenneth chairs the Expert Review Committee and serves on the Central Advisory Committee of the UK’s Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD). He collaborates globally through consortia such as the Asia Pharmacoepidemiology Network, TIMESPAN, and OHDSI. Recognised with the Kramer-Pollnow Prize (2023), he leads multinational, patient-centred studies that inform regulation and clinical practice, and champions rigorous, transparent methods so decisions about medicines are grounded in trustworthy evidence.
Dr In-Sun Oh
Research Professor
Sungkyunkwan University
Symposium Moderator
Biography
In-Sun Oh, PhD, is a Lecturer/Research Professor in the School of Pharmacy at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea. His research focuses on advancing methodological approaches in pharmacoepidemiology, particularly marginal structural models, simulation studies, and strategies to address immeasurable time bias in observational research. Dr. Oh has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and his contributions have been recognized internationally, including the Ronald D. Mann Best Paper Award (Honorable Mention) and the ISPE Spotlight Prize. He completed three years of postdoctoral training at McGill University and the Lady Davis Institute, Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, where he worked closely with international leaders in pharmacoepidemiology. Dr. Oh actively collaborates with global experts and participates in multinational research initiatives using large-scale healthcare databases. His work aims to strengthen the validity of real-world evidence for drug safety and effectiveness, ultimately informing regulatory decisions, clinical practice, and public health policy.
Dr Francisco Lai
The University of Hong Kong
Symposium Presenter
Biography
Dr. Francisco Tsz Tsun Lai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy at The University of Hong Kong, with a joint appointment in Family Medicine and Primary Care. A psychopharmacoepidemiologist, his research focuses on real-world evidence for psychotropic drug safety, multimorbidity, and big-data analytics in population health. Dr. Lai has authored over 135 peer-reviewed articles, including lead-author publications in Lancet Psychiatry, World Psychiatry, Nature Communications, and Annals of Internal Medicine. He has secured more than USD 1.5 million in competitive research funding and serves on editorial boards of Communications Medicine (Nature), Stress and Health, and Journal of Multimorbidity and Comorbidity. Recognized as a World’s Top 2% Scientist since 2022, he received the Young Leaders in Global Health Award from the World Health Summit in 2025. His work has informed clinical guidelines and public health policy, particularly in pharmacovigilance during health emergencies.
Miss. Hwa Yeon Ko
Researcher
Sungkyunkwan University
Symposium Presenter
Biography
Hwa Yeon Ko obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the School of Pharmacy at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), South Korea, in 2022. Building on her clinical foundation, she is currently a researcher in the Department of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance at SKKU. Her research is concentrated on assessing the comparative effectiveness and safety of antidiabetic medications in patients with complex metabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. She specifically investigates the role of these medications in preventing adverse cardiovascular, renal, and hepatic outcomes.
Leveraging Korea’s comprehensive nationwide healthcare claims data, Ms. Ko applies advanced pharmacoepidemiological methods to conduct large-scale observational studies. This approach has enabled her to lead several impactful projects generating critical real-world evidence. Her findings have been presented at major international conferences and publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
