Characterising Phytocannabinoids at the Cellular Ageing and Pain Target –TRPA1

Ethan is a PhD candidate at The Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics. Their master’s thesis was on characterising minor phytocannabinoids at endocannabinoid channel TRPA1. They have expanded this research since to encompass a cannabinoid-analogue screening program and C. elegans models of healthy ageing and disease models of age related decline.

Cannabigerol as a Potential Gerotherapeutic Agent: Evidence from Caenorhabditis elegans

Dr. Zhizhen Wang is a research fellow in Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics at University of Sydney.
Zhizhen received her PhD in neuroscience from the University of Wollongong in 2023. Her research focuses on the exploring the potential benefits of cannabinoids on the ageing process using the Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) and human cell models. As an early career researcher, she has already authored 11 papers, with 6 as the first author, garnering a total of 685 citations in the fields of ageing and cannabis. She has co-supervised three honors students and is currently mentoring one PhD student. She also contributes as a reviewer for leading ageing journals.

Miss Wing Gi Gigi Fung is a hospital intern pharmacist. She completed the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) in 2024 at the University of Sydney. Her honours research focused on enhancing the solubility of cannabinol using cyclodextrins and human serum albumin to support the development of novel cannabinoid formulations. She has a keen interest in pharmaceuticals and drug delivery.
