Effects of cellular entry on the efficacy of adenovirus vector-based vaccine
Biography
Rika Onishi is a graduate student at the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Osaka University, Japan, specializing in vaccine research and drug delivery technologies. Her work focuses on developing adenoviral vector-based vaccine platforms by engineering viral capsid components to enhance gene delivery efficiency and immunogenicity. In her previous research on adenovirus serotype 35 (Ad35) vector vaccines, she developed a novel Ad35 vaccine candidate incorporating an RGD peptide in the fiber knob and insertion of E4 orf 4, 6, and 6/7 regions of Ad5 (Onishi R., et al., Int. J. Pharm., 2024). She is currently investigating how cellular entry pathways of adenoviral vectors affect vaccine efficacy. By elucidating the relationship between vector internalization routes and immune activation, her studies aim to provide a rational foundation for next-generation adenoviral vaccine design. Her dedication to innovative pharmaceutical sciences continues to drive her exploration of cutting-edge biotechnologies.

Inhibitory effect of ammonium alginate on the pathological progression of chronic kidney disease due to salt loading
Biography
Ms.Yamaguchi is an undergraduate student at the department of Physical Pharmaceutics, Kumamoto University, majoring in pharmaceutical sciences. In the current study, she is evaluating the effect of salt-loading on the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in CKD mice, which is an irreversible condition and in which excessive salt intake exacerbates renal fibrosis and tubular damage, especially in patients with CKD, increasing the risk of renal function decline and end-stage renal failure. In particular, excessive salt intake in CKD patients increases the risk of renal function decline and end-stage renal failure. She hopes that by reducing the progression of CKD pathology caused by excessive salt intake, the number of patients forced to undergo dialysis will decrease. In the future, she hopes to use the knowledge and experience she gained from this study to contribute to society as a researcher.
