Invited speaker presentation: Development of a 3Rs-Based Synovium-on-Chip Platform for Modelling Rheumatoid Arthritis and Predicting Treatment Response
3:30 PM - 4:15 PMBiography
Full Professor of Immunology at the University of Eastern Piedmont, I hold degrees in Biological Sciences and Medicine, a specialization in Clinical Biochemistry, and a PhD in Human Biology. My research focuses on advanced in vitro models, particularly organ-on-chip technologies for autoimmune diseases. I coordinate the EU-funded FLAMIN-GO project (H2020) aimed at developing a personalized synovium-on-chip for rheumatoid arthritis, which led to the founding of the start-up AI-TWIN. I have led and contributed to numerous national and international projects, securing substantial funding and authoring over 100 peer-reviewed publications. I have held leadership roles in interdisciplinary research centers on autoimmune diseases (IRCAD, CAAD) and currently lead a multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of immunology, biotechnology, and precision medicine. My work explores extracellular vesicles as biomarkers and the interplay between lifestyle, nutrition, and immunity. I am co-inventor of several patents and recipient of awards for translational research and biomedical innovation.
