Biography

Dr. Yan-Fang Xian is the Programme Director of Master Science in Chinese Medicine and Assistant Professor at School of Chinese Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr. Xian obtained her PhD degree in 2013 from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research interests are the pharmacology of Herbal medicine in Alzheimer’s disease and cancer research. So far, Dr. Xian has published more than 100 original research articles based on her experimental findings in various SCI-listed academic journals such as Molecular cancer, Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B, Journal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, Journal of Advanced Research, Journal of Neuroinflammation, Brain, Behavior and Immunity with the H-index of 42 of Google Scholar. Over the past 5 years, she had successfully obtained more than ten external competitive grants. In addition, Dr. Xian listed as World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University.

Dr. Shuangqing WANG, selected for the "PUMC Young Scholar Support Program" at Peking Union Medical College. Specializes in developing novel drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical materials. Secured 5 research grants including NSFC and CAMS Innovation Fund projects. Led 6 new drug R&D initiatives with 7 patent applications. Published 26 SCI papers, with 14 first/corresponding-author articles in top-tier journals (Adv. Sci., J. Control. Release, etc.). Serves as reviewer for J. Control. Release, Int. J. Pharm., and other Q1 pharmaceutical journals. Research achievements include: 1) Design of stimuli-responsive nanocarriers for tumor targeting; 2) Development of biodegradable polymer-drug conjugates; 3) Establishment of novel evaluation models for transdermal delivery systems. Current focus: Intelligent drug delivery platforms.

Biography

Firasti AN Sumadi is an Indonesian pharmacist specializing in nanomedicine and biotechnology. She serves as a lecturer at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) and is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Queensland, Australia, focusing on activatable nanomaterials for cancer treatment under the supervision of Dr. Run Zhang. Her research encompasses the development of nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems, in silico vaccine design, and microRNA therapeutics. Her work on irradiated chitosan nanoparticles for microRNA delivery in cancer therapy has also been recognized. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges pharmaceutical sciences and nanotechnology, contributing to advancements in targeted therapies and vaccine development.

His research primarily targets tumor microenvironment remodeling and nanodrug delivery systems, with a clear aim to enhance the efficacy of cancer treatments.

Utilizing Nanotechnology for the Delivery of Targeted Fertility Control Agents to Pest Wildlife

Biography

Associate Professor School of Pharmacy, University of Otago, New Zealand and an Honorary Professor at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. Research interests are polymeric nanomedicines for oral delivery of proteins and peptides and understanding interactions at the nano-bio interrface. Arlene also works at the emerging intersection of pharmaceutical science and wildlife therapeutics. She has held leadership positions in the Controlled Release Society including Chair of the Veterinary Committee, President of the New Zealand Chapter of CRS and Editor-in-Chief of the CRS Newsletter and recently served on the Board of the Australasian Colloid and Interface Society and is an Editor for the European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics. McDowell is a strong advocate for education and has won prizes for both excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching and is Director of the new Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science degree launched at the University of Otago in 2022.
