Workshop 4: Assessing student understanding and application of the core concepts of pharmacology

Tracks
Track 1
Tuesday, December 9, 2025
11:15 AM - 1:15 PM

Details

This workshop continues the critical contribution made by ASCEPT members to the IUPHAR-Education Section Core Concepts Project. This workshop will be of great interest to all ASCEPT members who teach. We will share the data from our recent publications and manuscripts in preparation, that have involved over 1500 students from around the world tackling problems related to core concepts such as volume of distribution and drug efficacy. We will then work in small groups to analyse new data from our concept inventory – a validated test of student understanding of eight of the core concepts. From this workshop, participants will obtain a clear understanding of the ways that students understand some of the most important ideas of our discipline, as well as specific tools to test their own students’ understandings and to correct common misconceptions.
