Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū is a striking cultural landmark in the heart of Christchurch, New Zealand. Opened in 2003, its modern glass façade, designed by the Buchan Group, reflects the city’s landscape and symbolizes transparency and creativity. The gallery houses an extensive collection of New Zealand and international art, ranging from historical to contemporary works, and hosts dynamic temporary exhibitions. Its Māori name, Te Puna o Waiwhetū, meaning “the spring of star-reflecting waters,” reflects its role as a source of inspiration.
