Design drawing

Presentation description

Explore the traditional vocation of freehand drawing to communicate form and function. Explore the language of visual imagery including paraline and convergent drawing systems to help develop ideas, explore design options and help refine features and solve complex problems.

In this hand-on workshop, we will explore how teachers can help students develop their spatial understanding of both 2D geometry and 3D form. We will show how the skill of drawing can improve with an understanding of drawing conventions and through the use of drawing aides. We will discuss the selection, use and development of both paraline and convergent drawing systems based on their traditional uses in architecture, engineering, and product design. We'll also investigate the use of media and material to enhance the visual message our drawing communicate to fellow designers, manufacturers and other audiences.
