Educating Australia’s renewable future with STELR

Presentation description

In this workshop, learn how to apply the suite of STELR (Science and Technology Education Leveraging Relevance) resources available from the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) in your technology classroom. STELR provides hands-on resources focused on renewable energy, with kits relating to wind, solar and hydro energy generation, as well as solar powered electric vehicles and sustainable house design. The resources are designed to be used in-curriculum in Years 7-12, and are developed and endorsed by ATSE's over 900 fellows that are leaders in Science and Technology in Australia.

Learn how STELR resources can form the backbone of project-based learning in your classroom, and the range of possibilities they offer agains the Design and Technologies curriculum.

Biography

Graham Stock is the STEM Education Manager at The Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE), and an Honorary Fellow of the Re-Engineering Australia (REA) Foundation. Graham is also the International Representative for RoboCup Junior Australia, and Chair of RoboCup Junior in the Australian Capital Territory. As a secondary school educator, Graham has a decade of experience leading STEM in Australia and supporting the next generation of Australian STEM leaders. Having worked as head of faculty in both STEM and Design & Technologies disciplines, Graham has led the introduction of STEM curriculum across Years 7 to 12, as well as a number of extra-curricular programs and outreach initiatives in Australian schools.
