Enhancing Design and Technology assessment: Pairing Investigations with Projects
Presentation description
Creating meaningful assessment tasks that seamlessly integrate investigations with hands-on projects can deepen student learning and engagement. This session will explore strategies for designing assessments that align with ACARA content descriptions and standards elaborations, ensuring a balanced approach to both theoretical and practical components. A worked example will be shared which focusses on years 9-10, including student responses and task sheets, to illustrate how these paired assessments can be structured effectively. Participants are encouraged to bring an existing project task to rework into a paired assessment, gaining practical insights that they can apply in their own classrooms. Whether you're refining existing assessments or designing new ones, this session will provide valuable tools and ideas to enhance the way students demonstrate their understanding in Design and Technology.
