South Brisbane. Meet your tour host at the Welcome Desk on level 1 at the main entrance of the State Library.
Founded in 1896, State Library of Queensland is the leading reference and research library in Queensland. This is your chance to visit the building and get an exclusive tour of the award-winning State Library of Queensland building including The Edge. The tour will include time at The Edge State Library’s home for creativity, ideas and experimentation. On your visit to The Edge discover how you and your students can access cutting-edge facilities, workshops, and meetups. What can make at The Edge and what can you access online?
A redevelopment completed in 2006 introduced a range of new services and spaces were designed to intentionally welcome new audiences to the library and the Library is very popular with students. For the first time in an Australian state library, children under 8 years enjoyed a space designed specifically for them and their carers: The Corner. First Nations knowledge, history and culture is acknowledged and celebrated in kuril dhagun. The library offers a program of curated exhibitions to showcase its collections in the Talbot Family Treasures Wall, slq Gallery, Australian Library of Art and kuril dhagun.
