AI to reduce Teacher burnout

Presentation description

Australian teachers are working unsustainable hours, with administrative tasks consuming time that should be spent with students. While AI dominates education headlines, most discussions focus on academic integrity concerns or futuristic possibilities rather than immediate, practical solutions. This presentation cuts through the noise to demonstrate how Queensland educators are already using AI to reclaim 5-10 hours per week.
AI development is accelerating across multiple education domains: lesson planning, assessment design, feedback generation, administrative correspondence, and curriculum alignment. However, teachers face legitimate concerns about policy compliance, data privacy, assessment validity, and the learning curve required to adopt new tools. Many educators feel caught between mounting workload pressures and uncertainty about which AI applications are permissible and effective.
This session presents real-world implementations that address these concerns head-on. Attendees will see demonstrated examples including the Relief Lesson Generator, which creates curriculum-aligned lesson plans in minutes rather than hours, and pre-marking agents that ensure consistency in assessment marking against rubrics before human review. These aren't theoretical concepts but working solutions currently deployed in Queensland schools.
The presentation reveals how platform-agnostic AI literacy enables teachers to adapt solutions to their specific contexts regardless of future Education Queensland policy changes. Rather than promoting specific tools that may become obsolete, the focus is on building sustainable capability that works within existing frameworks.
Participants will leave with understanding of which AI applications deliver immediate time savings, how to implement them within current policy constraints, and frameworks for customising solutions to individual teaching contexts. The goal is simple: give teachers back the time they need to do what they do best, teaching students, while maintaining the quality and consistency of educational outcomes that Queensland students deserve.
