Engaging students in the Trades and Design classroom: Strategies for Success

Presentation description

This session will focus on strategies for engaging students in hands-on experiences in the Trades and Design classroom. Teachers will have the opportunity to see approaches in action, from lesson planning, sequencing of classroom activities, hooking students in to begin a lesson or unit, to integrating theory in interesting ways into hands-on learning. There will be a focus on simple, effective ideas that support teachers to engage students, reflect research-backed approaches to teaching and take into consideration the great diversity of secondary classrooms and student needs and interests. Teachers will leave this session armed with practical strategies and ideas to return to Trades and Design classrooms for immediate implementation.
