Biography

Dr James Wakefield is the MBA Program Director and a Senior Lecturer at the UTS Business School in the Accounting Discipline Group. James' research focuses on applying technologies and strategies to improve student engagement, belonging and learning outcomes in accounting and business education more broadly. James has an extensive track record of undertaking and publishing impactful education research. He has received awards based on the impact of his work from organisations including Universities Australia, the Australian Business Deans Council, Office of Learning and Teaching, Accounting and Finance Australia and New Zealand, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and UTS. He collaborates with several external organisations, including Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and Inclusive Action for the City, to enhance stakeholder outcomes through more effective educational practices.

Simone Faulkner (nee Grabowski) is a leading mobilities researcher in the UTS Business School who specialises in sustainable tourism, community development, cross-cultural and diversity management. She teaches in the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Management Programs at UTS and is also the First and Further Year Experience Coordinator for the faculty.

Biography

Yifei Liang is a PhD candidate from School of Education, University of Queensland, who has submitted PhD thesis. His research is focusing on the role of culture on learner-teacher partnerships, student engagement, and relational pedagogy in higher education teaching and learning. As an emerging scholar, Yifei has published peer-reviewed articles on several international journals with gaining growing attention.

Kelly Matthews is a highly respected scholar in the field of higher education and a multiple award-winning university teacher. She believes in the power of students and staff working together to improve teaching, learning, and the academic experience. As a top-cited scholar on student voice and student partnership in higher education, Kelly has over 120 peer-reviewed publications, 65+ invited talks, and 25+ funded projects worth $2.7 million, including a National Teaching Fellowship.

Dr Kun Dai is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Educational Administration and Policy, Faculty of Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on transnational education, teaching and learning in higher education, and education policy. His research articles have appeared in several international leading journals, such as Studies in Higher Education, Higher Education Research & Development, and Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education. Dr Dai is an editorial board member of Compare and Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of International Students.

Biography

Dr Chris Love is an Associate Professor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the School of Environment and Science, and the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery at Griffith University. He is a passionate STEM educator, teaching biochemistry in the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Biomedical Science programs at Griffith University, and teaches molecular biology at the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, China. Chris’ teaching and learning interests are centred on student-staff partnerships; active, authentic and personalised learning; technology enhanced learning; and, as first-year coordinator, improving student success and the student experience. His innovative teaching has resulted in teaching Excellence awards at Griffith University and an Australian Award for University Teaching. His research is focused on the structure and function of proteins in neuronal cell signalling and Parkinson’s disease.
