Aim Many educators have transformative teaching resource ideas but lack coding knowledge to bring them to fruition. This practical workshop bridges that gap by utilising GenAI capabilities through natural language prompting, called “VIBE” coding. This workshop uses a proven framework to transform a concept into a working prototype in under three hours. Focus To provide hands-on application of the VIBE-Teaching Enhanced Learning (VIBE-TEL) framework for attendees to learn how to use GenAI to develop interactive digital learning resources. Overview Participants will apply their own teaching challenge through a multistage design process using our VIBE-TEL Framework. Each participant will create a first-draft prototype, learn the iterative process, and receive a copy of the framework to guide future projects. Intended audience This workshop is designed for academics, learning designers, and educational developers at any technical level. No coding experience is required; the only prerequisite is a specific teaching learning challenge that could be solved through a unique digital resource. Workshop plan The 180-minute session is structured as an “Iterative Sprint” to maximise engagement and productivity: Ignite & Orient: A live demo and small-group introductions centred on participants’ teaching challenges. Sprint 1: From Concept to First Draft: Participants engage in guided individual ideation before applying the VIBE-TEL framework for a “First Build” session using GenAI to generate an initial version of their resource. Peer Clinic: Participants pair up to share their prototype and receive structured feedback, creating a critical cross-pollination moment. Sprint 2: Refine & Enhance: Armed with feedback, participants engage in a second round, intensive iterative build cycle to troubleshoot and polish their prototype. Showcase & Synthesise: A “Gallery Walk” allows participants to showcase their prototypes, followed by a final group discussion on adapting the framework.

Biography

Associate Professor Maurizio Costabile is a teaching-focused academic specialising in Biochemistry and Immunology education. His research interests relate to the use of simulations in aiding student understanding of didactic and laboratory content. He has made extensive use of Articulate Storyline and Unity-based simulations to significantly improve student learning. More recently, he has delved into using Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools to develop custom learning resources for his students as well as for colleagues. He is expertly placed to guide novice users to make full use of GenAI to address their or students learning needs.

Biography

Dr Sarah Davey is a teaching-focused academic with a focus on molecular biology and biosciences. Her PhD in Medical Science explored the role of the von Hippel Lindau protein in microtubule regulation. Previous teaching experience includes biology, genetics, physiology and pathophysiology for undergraduates in clinical and health science. Her teaching research interests includes using interactive oral assessments as an authentic assessment method and the impact of Artificial Intelligence on self-regulated learning in higher education.

Dr. Kuan Tan is a Lecturer in Health Services Management at UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences. He has led initiatives in artificial intelligence applications for curriculum development and established collaborative networks for advancing digital health education. His teaching approach emphasises practical, industry-relevant learning experiences that prepare students for contemporary healthcare challenges. Recognised for teaching excellence with an institutional award, Kuan maintains consistently high student satisfaction ratings. He actively contributes to university governance and strategic initiatives, while maintaining strong connections with healthcare industry partners. His research interests include educational technology, health services innovation, and the scholarship of teaching and learning in health education
