Lauren Cox is a PhD researcher and Associate Lecturer in Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland. Her research focuses on advancing equity and sustainability within academia, particularly exploring the experiences of casual academics and early career educators in the health professions. Lauren co-edited the Research Handbook of Academic Mental Health, reflecting her commitment to addressing systemic challenges in higher education. Through her research, Lauren aims to amplify the voices of those in precarious roles and contribute to shaping a more inclusive, supportive, and future-focused academic landscape.

Biography

Dr Jolene Morse is a governance, risk and higher education specialist with over 20 years’ experience spanning financial services, tertiary education and public sector boards. She is a Director of JM Risk Consulting Services and lectures in postgraduate risk and governance at several Australian universities. Jolene holds a Doctorate in Enterprise Risk Management from Deakin University and has served on multiple academic and health boards, bringing deep expertise in strategy, compliance and policy agility. Her research and practice focus on how neuroscience and decision science can enhance leadership, risk culture and student engagement in complex organisations. Jolene is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences on risk, governance and learning. She is passionate about equipping leaders with evidence-based tools to navigate uncertainty and create opportunities for innovation and student success.

Biography

Kolsoom is a Senior Research and Evaluation Officer at the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). She holds a PhD in Midwifery and conducts research on health workforce registration, with a particular focus on internationally qualified health practitioners. Her work examines registration requirements and processes, and their impacts on professional practice, workforce participation, and equity, using mixed-methods research to inform policy and decision-making.
