Dr Katherine Fernandez is a Learning and Teaching Advisor at La Trobe University and a Biochemistry Educator‑Researcher at Monash University. She leads and supports curriculum design, assessment enhancement, and evidence‑informed pedagogical practice. Drawing on extensive experience teaching undergraduate Bio/Chemistry, she advances the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning through education research focused on case‑ and context‑based learning, flipped learning design, and students’ biochemical literacy. Integrating disciplinary and pedagogical expertise she designs engaging, concept‑rich learning experiences that elevate student learning and curriculum quality.

Ensuring fairness and consistency in theoretical written assessment moderation in nursing and midwifery education: A scoping review
Biography
I am Dr Joanne Harmon (RN), a Lecturer in Nursing, where I balance an active research agenda with comprehensive teaching responsibilities.
Research
My research program centres on improving pain management for older adults and promoting active, healthy ageing. Through industry partnerships and multidisciplinary collaboration, I develop user-informed research that contributes to national policy and transatlantic clinical guidelines. I also lead scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) initiatives, including interdisciplinary teaching squares across academic units and theory assessment moderation processes for large nursing and midwifery student cohorts.
Teaching
Over the past ten years, I have coordinated large teaching teams and student cohorts across three campuses, preparing undergraduate nursing students for successful clinical practice. My experience with large-scale course delivery has enabled me to develop innovative approaches that ensure students are work-ready and confident in frontline healthcare settings.

Sustainability excursion in undergraduate pathology: design and learning outcomes
Biography
Dr. Sophie Paquet-Fifield is a Teaching Specialist and Lecturer in Pathology in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She holds a PhD in Virology (Paris) and completed post‑doctoral research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, specialising in epithelial stem cells, tumour angiogenesis, and cancer stem cells. Sophie transitioned into higher education with a strong commitment to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, completing the Melbourne Teaching Certificate and the Graduate Certificate of University Teaching. Sophie facilitates teaching across second and third‑year undergraduate Pathology, leading curriculum design, assessment design, and student engagement. Recognised for excellence and leadership in teaching, Sophie was appointed Pathology Major Coordinator in 2024 and received the Cheryl Power Teaching Award the same year. Sophie is passionate about innovation in teaching and learning, and she is looking forward to inspiring the next generation of biomedical researchers and clinicians!

Mapping the AI Maturity Curve: Investigating Student Engagement and Multimodal Limitations in Language Acquisition
Biography
Umi Kalsom Masrom, Ph.D is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Programme (English Language) at the Centre for Modern Languages, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), with over 20 years of experience in teaching, research, and training module development. Her areas of expertise include Technology-Enhanced Language Teaching (TELT), Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), and Applied Linguistics, with a strong focus on developing interactive digital content.
As a Certified HRDF and ICDL Trainer, she draws on her expertise in integrating educational technologies such as H5P, Canva, and AI-driven applications to design practical and relevant learning modules. She has been leading the establishment of the Language Hub at UMPSA, a university-wide initiative designed to strengthen multilingual competencies, foster collaborative learning, and enhance students’ communicative skills for both academic and professional success. She has also successfully served as the Programme Director of the Higher Education English Language Carnival (HE ELCa 2024), organized by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
Dr. Umi is actively involved in community education initiatives, including programs with youth and Indigenous communities, emphasizing active engagement and real-world communication skills. She has extensive experience facilitating national and international workshops, developing technology-driven learning modules, and publishing articles in SCOPUS- and WoS-indexed journals. Her contributions underscore her role in empowering students, educators, and communities to remain competitive in a globalized world.

Dr. Kun Dai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy at the Faculty of Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests encompass international and comparative education, higher education, and education policy. His work has been published in numerous leading journals, including Higher Education, Studies in Higher Education, Journal of Studies in International Education, Compare, Higher Education Research & Development, Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education, Fudan Education Forum, and Peking University Education Review. He has also (co)authored five academic books published by Routledge, Palgrave Macmillan, and Brill. Dr Dai serves as an associate editor, guest editor, and editorial board member for several international journals, including Higher Education Research & Development, Compare, and Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for over 90 international journal articles. His research has received support from the Early Career Scheme of the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC). In 2025, he is honored with the prestigious Hong Kong RGC Outstanding Early Career Award. Dr Dai is ranked among the 2025 Stanford-Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists in Education.

Biography
Dr Lisa Beccaria is an experienced nursing academic with expertise in curriculum design, learning and teaching innovation, and student engagement strategies. She currently holds an educational leadership role as Associate Head (Learning, Teaching and Student Success) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). She has led major initiatives to enhance assessment practices, integrate technology-enabled learning, and improve first-year student transition. Her research focuses on the scholarship of learning and teaching, and technology integration in nursing education. Dr Beccaria is committed to evidence-based educational practice and fostering interprofessional learning to prepare graduates for contemporary healthcare environments.

Biography
Professor Gavin Beccaria is currently the Deputy Head of School (Health, Psychological and Medical Sciences) at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). He is a practicing clinical psychologist has been a registered Psychologist since 1993. Gavin has extensive supervision and teaching experience with psychology students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and he has provided clinical supervision for over 500 psychologists and psychologists in training. He has either directly taught or supervised approximately 5% of all clinical psychologists in Australia.
Gavin has had a strong commitment to his profession throughout his career, with service to the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. He has been successful for several internal learning and teaching awards.
Gavin has over 50 peer-reviewed publications. He has written book chapters on mental health assessment, diagnosis, and disorders. He has also published in high-ranking scholarly journals on a wide range of topics including mental health, domestic violence, learning and teaching, work and career, clinical assessment, natural therapies, and Indigenous mental health. He has been successful for over $3M worth of grants including NHMRC.

Biography
Dr Joyce Lim is an educator, leadership scholar, and project consultant with over 30 years of cross-industry experience across the Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe. She has led large-scale strategic, creative, and organisational initiatives, including national festivals, government showcases, corporate transformation projects, and executive education programmes.
An experienced leadership facilitator, Dr Lim has delivered over 200 seminars and supported organisations in strategic development, change leadership, corporate cross-cultural strategies and engagement. Her professional experience includes senior roles at Pharmasave Drugs Canada, Esplanade Theatres, Cirque du Soleil, Resorts World Sentosa, Disney Special Events, and other national projects.
Joyce holds a PhD in Leadership from the Swiss School of Management and serves as Program Convenor for the University of Newcastle, Australia’s Executive MBA programme, while contributing to strategic partnerships and academic innovations. Her work is grounded in an integrative approach that connects people, ideas, and systems to advance purposeful leadership and transformative learning.

Empowering Offshore Students in Singapore: Student-Staff Partnerships and Universal Design for Learning in Media Law and Ethics
Biography
Thomas obtained his PhD in Media Studies in Perth, Australia, in 2002 and currently teaching Journalism Media Ethics at the School of Media, Creative Arts, and Social Inquiry at Curtin University, Australia. Thomas was a senior lecturer and Head of the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at Curtin University in Malaysia for seven years.The 2000 joint winner of Asian Radio Write Award, instituted by the Radio Corporation of Singapore (RCS) and Asian Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC), Singapore, he co-convened an international conference in Malaysia titled ‘Media and Identity in Asia’. Thomas has presented numerous international conference papers and published journal articles, and book chapters in the context of radio and television consumption in Asia. Thomas has won the best paper award for his research presented at the International Conference, 'Emerging Research Paradigms in Business and Social Sciences' organised by Middlesex University in Dubai.
