Biography: Catherine Fargher Catherine is an AWGIE award-winning scriptwriter, theatre and new-media producer, whose scripts have been produced for games, transmedia, radio, puppetry, hybrid performance, theatre and children’s theatre by Sydney Opera House, Redmoon Theatre Chicago and ABC Radio National. In 2008 she completed a Doctorate of Creative Arts at Wollongong University, developing hybrid performance texts from a series of original bio-ethical fables. Her play 'Dr Egg and the Man with No Ear', a new media and puppetry production (Sydney Opera House), based on these fables, received critical acclaim and toured the US and Canada from 2008-2010. Catherine won the 2011 AWGIE award for Children’s Theatre for the play. From 2012-2017, she developed the play into an interactive storybook and online puzzle game, 'The Dr Egg Adventures Laboratory', funded by the Literature Brd and Inter-arts fund of the Australia Council. Catherine joined Macquarie University Incubator Hub, to develop the Dr Egg Adventures books, games and interactive online laboratory in 2016, while teaching within the Departments of English and Department of Media Communications at Macquarie, and School of Arts and Media at University of New South Wales. The project was successfully funded via a NSW Dept of Treasury (MVP Grant). The project was a successful tender bid for 'Online Teaching Resources' and granted advanced supplier status. Dr Egg Adventures Laboratory program now operates via EOI in NSW primary schools. An accompanying Research Project is in place, with co-investigators Assoc. Professor Anne Forbes and John De Nobile (MQ School of Education) Catherine currently works as a Senior Lecturer in Media Communications, within the School of Communication, Society and Culture, Faculty of Arts. She lectures in Multi-modal Storytelling, Screenwriting and Advanced Storytelling Techniques. In 2024 she won the Faculty of Arts Education Leadership award, alongside a Teaching Innovation award with Dr James MacKenzie.

Venicia McGhie taught Communication Studies at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein. She became an academic development practitioner in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at UWC in 2002. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Stellenbosch. She is an applied linguist specialising in higher education and literacy. She is a Fulbright Post-doc Scholar and spent more than a year in the United States of America. Her research interests are in the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching, specifically focusing on student learning, support, and academic success. She is an entrepreneur, author, mentor and motivational speaker who believes in the transformative power of education. She strives to educate, uplift and empower students, families and the broader South African communities.

Katrina McLachlan is a lecturer responsible for leading the development and delivery of online teaching in journalism and media communication programs at Adelaide University Online. As an industry immersed academic, she is focussed on authentic learning experiences and is undertaking a PhD looking at developing authentic journalism and media communication curricula for transforming professional practice.
