Medicago truncatula Mutant Resources for Legume Genomics

2:00 PM - 2:15 PM

Abstract

Biography

Dr. Jiangqi Wen obtained his PhD in China in 1994. In 2000, Dr. Wen moved to University of Missouri-Columbia as a postdoctoral fellow. In 2005, Dr. Wen joined Noble Foundation (later Noble Research Institute) as a core facility manager for molecular and biological materials. From 2021, Dr. Wen joined Oklahoma State University as research professor. Over the past 19 years, Dr. Wen has been managing the Medicago truncatula mutant collections.

Translational Research in Grain Legumes: Results, Applications and Perspectives

2:15 PM - 2:30 PM

Abstract

Biography

Nadim Tayeh is a research scientist at the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE). He leads the genetic and genomic of Target Protein Crops (ECP) team at the UMR Agroecology in Dijon. Nadim Tayeh's expertise is in genetics, genomics and molecular biology. His research is dedicated to the improvement of grain legumes, particularly for agroecological production systems. It focuses on genetic diversity, gene discovery and comparative approaches. Nadim Tayeh has led numerous research projects and contributed highly-cited research papers in the fields of plant genetics and genomics.

Reference genome sequence and population genomic analysis of peas provide insights into the genetic basis of Mendelian traits and beyond

2:30 PM - 2:45 PM

Abstract

Biography

I am interested in functional genomics research and molecular breeding of vegetable pea and soybean. I have led over ten projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation, Zhejiang major project for breeding of new vegetable varieties. I have bred two varieties of vegetable peas as the first principal investigator and participated in the breeding of thirteen new varieties of vegetable peas and vegetable soybeans. I have published over ten papers as the first author or corresponding author in the international journals such as Horticulture Research and Microbiology Spectrum.

Differential selection of yield and quality traits has shaped genomic signatures of cowpea domestication and improvement

2:45 PM - 3:00 PM

Abstract

Biography

Xinyi Wu got his Ph. D. for Crop Genetics and Breeding in 2013 in Nanjing Agricultural University. From 2013, I started to work in the Institute of Vegetables of Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, my current research is focus on cowpea genomic and molecular breeding, including the high-quality genome assembly and pan-genome assemblies, understanding the genetic basis of the important traits and developing new germplasm resources and new varieties through molecular breeding. The related results have been published in Theor Appl Genet and Nat Genet.

Towards a complete phylogenetic tree of angiosperm genera, including legumes!

3:00 PM - 3:15 PM

Abstract

Biography

I am a bioinformatician working in the Kew Tree of Life project. We are building a large phylogenetic tree using genome sequence data and a gene target capture method to discover the relationships between all, roughly 13,700, flowering plant genera, the majority of which are derived from Kew's collection of plant specimens. I oversee the bioinformatics of gene recovery from all the specimens and perform phylogenetic analysis for the Kew Tree of Life Explorer. I am also investigating new phylogenetic methods that can handle large datasets and I help to maintain a MySQL database that stores information on taxonomy, data sources and gene recovery statistics.
