Leading with Love: Practical Strategies for Implementing Mana-Enhancing Practice/Strength Based Practice in Schools
11:30 AM - 1:05 PMAbstract
While the keynote invites a shift in heart, this workshop provides the "how-to" for leaders and educators ready to move from theory to systemic transformation. Drawing on his decade as Principal of Henry Hill School, Jase Williams shares the journey of leading an internationally recognised school-wide shift that resulted in the 2021 Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Award for Wellbeing from Jacinda Ardern.
This session is designed for educators and leaders who are ready to dismantle "fixing" mentalities and build environments where belonging is the primary pedagogical tool. Jase will pull back the curtain on the Henry Hill story, showing how a commitment to unconditional love and indigenous ways of knowing and being can redefine school culture, engagement, and community trust.
In this session, Jase will guide participants through:
The Henry Hill Blueprint: A step-by-step look at how to move a school from traditional behavioural management to a relational, trauma-aware, and mana-enhancing/strengths based model.
Leadership in the "Middle of the Work": Navigating the challenges of shifting staff mindsets, overcoming systemic barriers, and leading with vulnerability and equity.
Environmental Safety vs. Relational Safety: Creating an environment that provides a "true felt sense" of belonging and safety for students, staff and community.
Measuring What Matters: Moving beyond standard data to value the "unseen" indicators of wellbeing and connection.
Participants will leave not just with inspiration, but with a framework to begin transforming their own leadership practice through the lens of connection, belonging and love.
