Dr Arisbel Batista Gondin is an ARC DECRA and NHMRC Emerging Investigator Fellow at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), specialising in GPCR pharmacology and protein engineering, with experience across academia and industry. Her research focuses on how endogenous peptides activate GPCRs and on developing innovative strategies to selectively enhance these signalling pathways for therapeutic benefit. She integrates pharmacology, structural biology, and AI-driven protein design to uncover receptor mechanisms and enable safer, more effective therapies. She completed a joint PhD in 2019 at Monash University and the University of Nottingham. Dr Gondin has published 19 peer-reviewed articles and secured over $2.5 million in competitive funding. Her work has been recognised with several awards, including the Vice-Chancellor’s Early Career Researcher of the Year Award, the Faculty Emerging Early Career Research Award, and the Advancing Women in Research Success Award.

Dr Burger is an NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow and Senior Research Officer at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) in Melbourne, Australia. He completed his Master’s degree at Leiden University, followed by a PhD at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University. His research focuses on the structural mechanisms underlying Wnt signalling, with particular emphasis on how Frizzled receptors mediate this process, using a combination of structural biology and pharmacological approaches.

Dr Madison Coward-Smith is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Technology Sydney and Woolcock Institute of Medical Research specialising in cardiovascular complications post viral lung infections.

Dr Harley Robinson (PhD) is an early career researcher at QIMR Berghofer in the Cardiac Drug Discovery Laboratory. She specializes in advanced proteomics, incorporating traditional and bespoke approaches to unravel mechanistic foundations of heart failure. Alongside human cardiac organoid models, these approaches enable a comprehensive high throughput, unbiased survey of developing cardiac disease, and uncovers early-stage vulnerabilities for therapeutic intervention.
