Abstract

Biography

Dr. Iris Lim is a biomedical scientist and an award-winning educator at Bond University, Australia, where she serves as Assistant Dean (Learning & Teaching) in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine. Her laboratory research focuses on the physiology and pharmacology of the urinary tract, particularly the ureter and urethra, with additional work examining the bladder. Alongside her basic science research, Iris is a national and international leader in education and student engagement research, especially the design of educational escape rooms. Iris has received multiple prestigious teaching awards including a National Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. She is passionate about empowering learners through creativity, collaboration, and evidence-based education.

Biography

Dr Tori Llewelyn is a pharmacist, teaching specialist academic, and Associate Dean Learning and Teaching (Student Success and Engagement) in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University. Tori has over 15 years' teaching and learning experience in the higher education (medical and allied health) sector in Australia. She joined Flinders University in 2019, with her teaching focusing on pharmacology, quality use of medicines, and research and study skills. Tori is passionate about creating authentic and practical learning experiences for students, most recently instituting interprofessional co-teaching teams in foundational and clinical pharmacology to ensure optimal authenticity and relevance for clinical allied health students.

Fostering Professional Networking for Pharmacology Students through Co-Creation

Biography

Dr Blessing Airhihen is a Pharmacist with a PhD in Biomolecular Science from the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham. Since 2005, her teaching and research career has been predominantly focused on early-phase drug discovery in oncology, target validation, and protein therapeutics. She transitioned from AstraZeneca PLC to Nottingham Trent University (NTU) as a Senior Lecturer. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), passionate about enhancing the student experience. Dr Airhihen employs innovative pedagogy and co-creation in her teaching design and practice at NTU and beyond. She founded STEMspiration, a platform that inspires international women in STEMM and early-career professionals. She continues to develop and extend her scholarship practice and mentoring initiatives, empowering women, undergraduates, and postgraduates both at NTU and beyond the UK.

Biography

Graeme Sills received his undergraduate degree in Pharmacology and his PhD from the University of Glasgow. He subsequently embarked on an academic research career in the field of epilepsy and anti-seizure drugs at the Universities of Glasgow and Liverpool before switching his focus to pharmacology education. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology at the University of Glasgow, where he is Year 3 lead and deputy programme director for the BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology, and sits on the Education & Training committee and the Meetings committee of the British Pharmacological Society (BPS). He was elected to Fellowship of the BPS in 2025.
