Digital casting process development – optimizing quality and economics of a rear axel shaft housing

Synopsis

This presentation demonstrates how metal casting simulation supports the development and optimization of a rear axle shaft housing for a tractor, courtesy of Bundy Tradores, Brazil. Starting from initial casting layout and gating concept, MAGMASOFT® simulation results are used to identify critical areas and guide the development of an optimized dual-cavity layout. The different concepts are then compared in terms of casting quality, production economics and CO₂ emissions, demonstrating how simulation-driven development can help identify the most efficient manufacturing solution
