Dr Shevahn Telfser has been with the Australian Defence Force for 3 1/2 years where she has held the role of Director Academic Agreements for the Australian Defence College. Prior to Defence she was engaged for over 23 years in the Australian University sector as an academic in agricultural management and administration in the area of international education. During both academic and administrative roles she was actively involved in the university learning and teaching groups with a focus on the student experience and the relationship between education and employer expectations.

Biography
Captain James Hawley is the Director of Education and Training at the Australian Defence Force Academy where he oversees the design, development and evaluation of military education programs for the future leaders of the Australian Defence Force. James has a background in military education and training including his most recent posting as Commanding Officer of 725 Squadron; charged with training and developing the new generation of Maritime Combat Helicopter aircrew and maintainers using a blended model of aircraft, high fidelity simulation, part task trainers and classroom learning. James has also fulfilled training roles as the Senior Navy Instructor at the School of Air Warfare and as an Aviation Instructor at the Navy Helicopter School. During his flying career James has operated Ecureuil, Super Seasprite, Lynx and Seahawk “Romeo” Helicopters and completed multiple operational tours in the Mediterranean, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Mr Jeffrey Howard

Biography
Group Captain Howard graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1998. He has held a variety of leadership and technical specialist including Squadron Command in deployed and non-deployed Combat Support units. Group Captain Howard’s operational service includes numerous operational deployments in Joint, Multi-Agency, and Multi-National environments to Afghanistan, the Middle East, and the Solomon Islands. Group Captain Howard is a Fellow and Chartered Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), Master of Arts (Strategy and Management), and a Master of Commerce (Accounting). Group Captain Howard was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2019 for his service to Airfield Engineering and No. 65 Squadron.

Stacey E. Jones is a Lecturer and Workplace Learning Coordinator in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt University. She specialises in professional experience placement and teacher mentoring. She also has extensive experience teaching in secondary schools, both public and independent. Stacey has performed the role of school-based professional experience coordinator, with a focus on early career teacher mentoring and accreditation.
Stacey’s current research focuses on school-university partnerships developed through authentic communities of practice as an effective strategy to enhance teacher quality. She is fervently committed to best preparing university students for highly successful and impactful teaching careers, recognising the crucial role of high-quality teacher education courses in their development.

Dr Fiona Bird is the Associate Dean, Partnerships in the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment and has over 20 years of experience working as an educator, researcher and leader at La Trobe University. Fiona has taught thousands of science students and her outstanding contribution to teaching and learning has been recognised with Citations from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council, and a Vice Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
Fiona trained as a zoologist, completing a PhD at Victoria University, Australia. Her current research focusses on the scholarship of learning and teaching with particular interests in assessment and graduate employability, and student expectations for university student. Fiona’s current role focusses on building partnerships with industry to support and enhance student employability, research and training opportunities.
Dr Caroline Taylor

Dr Caroline Taylor is a Senior Lecturer and the Teaching & Learning Coordinator for the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment at La Trobe University. Caroline trained as a pharmacologist, completing a PhD at the University of Cambridge before working in various research focussed roles before joining LTU 8 years ago. In addition to her leadership role in Teaching and Learning, Caroline has taught physiology and pathology to students from a wide range of disciplines over the last decade and is also an active education researcher. Her recent work as part of a team embedding career development opportunities across the science and health science curriculum at LTU have been recognised with citations from the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) and an LTU Vice Chancellor’s Teacher of the year award.
