Biography

Nelson Lo is a doctoral candidate and sessional academic at the Sydney School of Education and Social Work, The University of Sydney. One of his research interests lies in teachers' beliefs, attitudes and practices of inclusive education in the university pathway settings. Prior to his doctoral study, he taught in various university pathway colleges where he closely worked with students with disabilities and students from EAL/D backgrounds. He also has a background in secondary school teaching in the areas of EAL/D, Languages, and Social Science.

Biography

Dr Katelyn Barney’s research focuses on improving pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students into and through higher education and advancing understanding about the role of collaborative research and music making between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous people. She is also Managing Editor of The Australian Journal of Indigenous Education. She was a 2019-2020 Equity Fellow with the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (NCSEHE) and her fellowship explored effective evaluation of university outreach with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary school students. As part of the fellowship, Katelyn co-hosted a podcast with her colleague Professor Tracey Bunda called "Indigenous Success: Doing it, Thinking it, Being it".

Biography

Professor Bronwyn Fredericks has over 30 years of experience working in and with the tertiary sector, State and Federal Governments, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-based organisations. As Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement) at The University of Queensland, Professor Fredericks is responsible for leading the implementation of the Indigenous strategy and strengthening leadership within the University in relation to Indigenous Engagement, as well as building links with the community. She is also leading the implementation of UQ’s first Reconciliation Action Plan.

Biography

Stacey E. Jones is a Lecturer and Workplace Learning Coordinator in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt University. She specialises in professional experience placement and teacher mentoring. She also has extensive experience teaching in secondary schools, both public and independent. Stacey has performed the role of school-based professional experience coordinator, with a focus on early career teacher mentoring and accreditation. Stacey’s current research focuses on school-university partnerships developed through authentic communities of practice as an effective strategy to enhance teacher quality. She is fervently committed to best preparing university students for highly successful and impactful teaching careers, recognising the crucial role of high-quality teacher education courses in their development.
