Biography

Sophie is the Head of Department for Nutrition and Dietetic Medicine at the Endeavour College of Natural Health. With a longstanding background in higher education she is focused on the student experience, with specific interest in expanding learning beyond the traditional classroom. Sitting on a number of academic governance committees, Sophie is driving change in the higher education sector for more experiential learning that prepares students for industry.

Biography

Jo is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and a qualified nutritionist and naturopath with over fifteen years’ experience in clinical practice. In her role as Academic Clinic Coordinator at Endeavour College of Natural Health, she is responsible for the clinical education of the nutritional medicine students in the Wellness Clinics across the country. Jo is currently completing postgraduate studies in Clinical Education. Jo is committed to providing evidence-informed training and to delivering the highest quality student learning experience to best prepare them for lifelong sustainable clinical practice.

Biography

Matt Carew is a PhD candidate at Monash University, with a passionate interest in sustainability and interdisciplinary collaboration. His research focuses on climate change education, specifically how climate change communication is taught at Australian universities. As a young researcher, he recognises that young people often struggle to use their voice for positive change on global issues like climate change. Matt hopes to use education to empower young people with the skills they need to effectively communicate as leaders, workers and citizens to address wicked global problems across a range of industries, communities and cultures, and collaborate across generations to achieve lasting transformational action.

Dr Elizabeth (Liz) Goode is a Lecturer in the Academic Portfolio Office at Southern Cross University. She has led a community of practice in active learning pedagogy and edits an institutional scholarship of learning and teaching working paper series. Liz has received multiple teaching awards, including an Office for Learning and Teaching Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning.

Biography

Dr Pranit Anand is a Senior Lecturer at the UNSW School of Information Systems and Technology Management. His research interest focus on student-centered pedagogies within STEM disciplines particularly how to engage and motivate students to learn through engaging assessments for learning. Pranit has spent a significant amount of time teaching within the enabling and pathways education sector in Australia. More recently Pranit is exploring digital storytelling as a form of assessment in higher education courses.
