Promoting student well-being and resilience – testing a systemic game-based intervention focused on basic psychological needs at a Dutch university

Biography

After having studied (applied) psychology at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, Lisa is now been researching student wellbeing, resilience and the role of the learning environment for nearly four years within her PhD project at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. She uses both quantitative and also qualitative research methods and has published two papers about student and teacher well-being, with another one about the impact of COVID-19 on student well-being and the educational system accepted for publication. She already gained experience in conducting workshops about academic well-being for both teachers and students in higher education and created a board game-based intervention to address basic psychological need from the self-determination theory and thereby increase student well-being within a course.

Biography

Associate Professor Bhavani Sridharan is the Associate Dean, Learning & Teaching, and Accreditation in the Faculty of Law and Business, Australian Catholic University. Bhavani’s research focuses on assuring graduate capabilities, learning analytics, authentic assessment, peer learning, feedback, evaluative judgement, e-learning, technology-enhanced assessment, student engagement, quality in higher education, community of practice (CoP), and principles of responsible management education (PRME). She has published her work in high ranked peer reviewed journals including, Higher Education, Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education, Journal of Business Research, Accounting and Finance, and Accounting Education. Bhavani has been successful in gaining grants and awards including Massey University Women’s award, Academy of Business Research Fund (ABRF), the RMIT University and College of Business awards for Doctoral Research Excellence, ACU Teaching Development grants, the CRADLE (The Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning, Deakin University) fellowship grant.

Biography

Tuan Chau is currently a Learning & Teaching Analytics and Accreditation officer at the Australian Catholic University. He holds a first bachelor’s degree in Mathematics & Informatics, a second bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and a master’s degree in Database Professional. He got his doctoral degree in Business Information Systems at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. His research interests are in the areas of technology adoption, business innovation, and business analytics. His publications have appeared in the International Journal of Business Information Systems, Journal of Global Information Management, Journal of Marketing Management, and other international conferences.
