Biography

Dr Leanne Pool is a registered nurse who has spent the majority of her nursing career in nursing education fueled by her passion for nursing as a career choice, and her desire to support the professional formation of nurses and, more recently, nurse educators. Originally from Saskatchewan, Canada, she has lived in Aotearoa New Zealand and worked at Whitireia Community Polytechnic (now Te Pūkenga), for 30 years. As a registered nurse, educator, and researcher she has worked successfully in leadership positions with diverse populations and within a range of industry settings. She recently completed her doctoral thesis that focused on the everyday work of the nurse educator in Aotearoa New Zealand. She shares the findings of this research mindful of the privilege that has been afforded to her as a Pākehā registered nurse.

Biography

Phuc Diem Le is the Teaching and Learning Specialist at RMIT Vietnam. She has been working in higher education since 2008 as a lecturer and teacher trainer in English language teaching, English language teaching methodology, language testing and assessment. She finished her PhD in Language Testing and Assessment at the University of Queensland, Australia. Her research interest and publications are about general education assessment and language testing and assessment, and academic development. Karen is the Manager of Learning & Teaching at RMIT University Vietnam. Karen has worked in education for 16 years as a teacher and academic manager in English language teaching, higher education pathway programs, migrant education programs and the higher education sector, in Australia, Nauru and Vietnam. She is the recipient of two Australian national awards in the ELICOS sector, The Award for Academic Leadership for her contribution to professional development of teachers and Contribution to Professional Practice for her research into teaching strategies for extensive reading. Karen is passionate about continuous professional learning.
