Biography

Joanna Tai is Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning, Deakin University Australia. She researches student experiences of learning and assessment from university to the workplace, including feedback and assessment literacy, evaluative judgement and peer learning.

Biography

Nicholas Charlton is a Learning Adviser in the Library, at Griffith University Queensland, Australia. Learning Advisers provide academic skills support in mixed mode sessions, through e-learning resources and consultations. Nicholas’ research interests include assessment design, planning and implementation, academic practices, program-level planning and academic skills. He has completed a Master of Education and Professional Studies Research investigating factors that influence academics’ assessment practices. Nicholas is currently undertaking a PhD investigating program-level assessment planning in the Australian Higher Education sector.

Biography

Dr Megan McIntosh is a Teaching Specialist, Arts Teaching Innovation (ATI) in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne. Megan teaches several capstone subjects in the Executive Master of Arts, supporting students to pursue internships or research theses that apply coursework knowledge to the professional workplace or a particular discipline or study area. Megan’s research is in international education, language and literacies. Megan is interested in the internationalisation of post-secondary institutions, student experiences of navigating international student identities, academic advising in culturally and linguistically diverse universities, and global Englishes and language learning in high-stakes academic environments.

Biography

Dr Elizabeth Lakey is the Head of Program, Arts Teaching Innovation in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne. Elizabeth teaches several subjects that integrate Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) into arts curricula, facilitated through avenues such as internships, global volunteering and project-based learning. She is interested in equity and equal access to the labour market and supporting students in their professional development. Her disciplinary background is in Development Studies, Refugee and Forced Migration studies, Migrant Cultural Studies, Community Development and several languages. Elizabeth has taught aspects of development studies and contemporary African history.

Biography

Dr Saeed Shaeri is an engineering education researcher, engaged in the scholarship of teaching and learning and conducting quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method research within the higher education context. Specifically, his research expertise is in areas of project-based and work-integrated learning, formative and summative assessments, authentic assessment (in particular interactive oral assessments), blended and online learning, and academic integrity. Dr Shaeri is a trained coastal engineer who worked in the industry for more than a decade before becoming a passionate educator a decade ago.
