Biography

Dr Emma Wong is the Associate Dean for Scholarship and Civic Leadership at the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS). She has two decades of public and private higher education experience working in universities in Asia, Europe and Australasia. Apart from tourism policy research, she also has a strong interest in tertiary education management studies.

Biography

Dr Michael Tomlinson is a Higher Education Governance and Quality Consultant. He was formerly Director of the Assurance Group at TEQSA (the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency), where he led case teams to conduct assessments of all registered providers of higher education (including all of Australia’s universities) against the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF). He also led the implementation of the 2015 version of the HESF for TEQSA. Later, he provided formative input into the revised 2021 Provider Category Standards. Before TEQSA, he was an Audit Director at the former Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA), and for twenty years worked in Australian universities, for the last fifteen of these in senior positions at Swinburne University of Technology. Since leaving TEQSA, he has conducted over a dozen governance reviews for universities and higher education providers. Dr Tomlinson is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and of the (international) Chartered Governance Institute.

Getting “hands-on”: Enhancing online primary arts teacher education through praxis-focused assessment

Biography

William Baker is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education. He holds degrees in Music Education, Education, Fine Art, a Graduate Certificate (ULT) and he is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Bill has been awarded multiple University Teaching Merit Certificates, Teaching Development Grants, and a University Vice-Chancellor's Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning. Bill’s co-authored pre-service teacher textbook, Teaching the Arts: Early Childhood and Primary Education, published by Cambridge University Press, is in its third edition. Bill has published extensively in the area of Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching (TELT) and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in initial teacher education.

Biography

Glenda Hobdell is a lecturer in the School of Education and the Arts at Central Queensland University. She has extensive experience in Arts practice and curriculum leadership, with a background of 30 years teaching the Arts in the secondary sector, including coordination and implementation of mentoring programs for beginning teachers. Glenda accepts and meets adaptive changes of educational initiatives with passion and vigour, constantly seeking new challenges to enhance her professional expertise. She has been widely recognised for excellence in teaching in her secondary and tertiary education roles, as her teaching practice models the integration of digital technologies into the classroom and initial teacher education online programs. Glenda is committed to sharing her 21st Century pedagogy to transform learning in the Arts and across the curriculum.
