Biography

Barbara is an associate professor in the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She has a background in mathematics, mathematics education and biochemistry and teaches mostly at post-graduate level in higher education. Barbara’s research is largely qualitative and has lead a number of collaborative and cross-disciplinary projects around teaching and learning. This broad focus includes supporting early career academics, communities of practice, peer mentoring, academic identity, flipped classrooms and more. Barbara latest research explores brokering across different boundaries– disciplines, institutions, countries, and cultures - within the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) landscape and how SoTL is supported within higher education institutions.

Biography

Prof. Ida Fatimawati bt. Adi Badiozaman is the current Executive Dean of Research in Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak. An award-winning multidisciplinary researcher driven by equity and access issues, she has been involved in transformative and impactful research projects with government, industry, and higher education partners. Her current research looks into redefining teaching competency and readiness post pandemic. Her work on teacher resilience and professional identity development during Covid times have provided greater insights into how teachers sustained teaching and learning, and thrived during the transition to online teaching. In 2020 she won the United Nation’s WEP Award for the Community and Industry Engagement Category. In 2021, she received the Special Recognition Award for her contribution to education at the state-level celebration of International Women’s Day 2021 by the Chief Minister of Sarawak, Malaysia. In 2022 Dr. Ida was highlighted in the book, Sarawak Women in Scholarly writing.

Biography

Dr Jacqueline Burgess is a Lecturer in International Business and the Program Coordinator of the Bachelor of Business in the School of Business and Creative Industries at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Her research investigates the marketing and business aspects of the creative industries. She has a particular focus on narrative brands and understanding how consumers and audiences become emotionally connected to the stories these brands tell. She has also collaborated with various practitioners and small businesses as part of her research. Her work has been published in multiple peer-review journals including the European Journal of Marketing, Game Studies, the International Journal on Media Management and the Creative Industries Journal, presented at various academic conferences, and been covered by local and international news outlets.
