Biography

Dr Ashleigh Prosser FHEA is a Lecturer in Professional Learning at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. Ashleigh holds a BA(Hons-1st) and PhD in English & Cultural Studies from The University of Western Australia, and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from Queensland University of Technology. Ashleigh’s research interests lie with the scholarship of teaching and learning, in particular professional learning, and the study of gothic and horror in literature and popular culture. Ashleigh is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, the Associate Editor of The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture, and the Managing Editor of Aeternum: The Journal of Contemporary Gothic Studies,

Biography

Dr Shannon Johnston, PhD, SFHEA is Head of Professional Learning at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. Coming from a background in school and university teaching in Indonesian and Education, she focused her passion for authentic, effective, relevant (and fun) learning and assessment design and teacher change arising from her PhD to re-purpose her roles as instructional designer, curriculum developer and more recently academic in professional learning across 7 Australian Universities. In her current role, Shannon leads a range of university teaching initiatives (such as the new Assessment Policy and Procedures) and staff development opportunities. Her research and scholarship continue to focus on change to learning and teaching in discipline contexts and at a University level, including reflective practice, group work with global teams, new pedagogies, and teacher change.

Biography

Dr Sarah Baker is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Communication at Auckland University of Technology. She is the co-founder of the AUT Popular Culture Centre and a member of JMAD and the AUT Media Observatory Group. She is the Secretary of GANZA (The Gothic Association of New Zealand and Australia). She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a strong interest in teaching and learning. Her research interests include political economy, current affairs television programmes, and popular culture focusing on the Gothic, Sexuality and gender.

Biography

Dr Mark Bassett is a Senior Lecturer and Learning Advisor at Auckland University of Technology. He teaches academic literacy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a focus on embedding literacy development in subject content and online resource creation. Mark is interested in researching the practices of learning advisors, academic literacy teaching, the effectiveness of online resources for student learning, and higher education pedagogy.
