Huong Nguyen is a Graduate Researcher at the School of Education, Deakin University. Her research interests focus on the social, economic, and technological aspects of higher education, including education policy, sociology of education, international education, and digitalisation. She explores how these factors shape student experiences, graduate employability, and institutional practices in a rapidly changing global context.

Reframing Faculty Perceptions of Learning Barriers Through the Lens of Inclusive Pedagogy

Biography

Dr. Reva Ramiah has been an Associate Professor and teaching-focused academic at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (SAE) at Curtin University, Australia, since 2013. With 35 years of teaching experience spanning secondary, post-secondary, and tertiary education, she has been deeply involved in classroom teaching and in-service professional development, equipping educators with the skills to create inclusive and engaging learning environments. Reva is passionate about fostering inclusive and supportive learning spaces, with a particular focus on increasing the participation and success of marginalised student cohorts in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). In her role, Reva leads academic staff development to enhance learning and teaching capabilities, ensuring that inclusive, innovative and effective approaches remain central to their practice. She also spearheads initiatives to improve language, literacy, and communication skills across various disciplines, drawing on her expertise in English Language Studies and Science Education.

Biography

Associate Professor Lisa Godinho is an education-focused academic working at the critical point of transition into higher education. She focuses on developing skills in undergraduate science students and supporting the success of Indigenous students in science. Lisa has taught first year and foundational tertiary subjects for 15 years, in addition to experience in secondary education. She has key responsibilities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students completing the Bachelor of Science (Extended) degree and a partnership with the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School. Her role includes leadership in teaching and learning for the Faculty of Science including staff capacity-building, strategic projects, and processes to support student success, curriculum review and academic integrity. Lisa co-founded a national Indigenous Science Community of Practice supported by the Australian Council of Deans of Science and is on the Board of Directors for the Science Schools Foundation which is responsible for the national outreach program - The Science Experience.
