Biography
Janine Arantes is a Senior Lecturer at Victoria University, co-leading the "New Frontiers in Justice, Education, Policy, and Advocacy" research discipline. Her work explores the intersection of technology, policy, and equity in education, with a focus on psychosocial risks, AI governance, and digital literacy. Recognized with awards like the ATEA Early Career Research Grant (2024) and the Future Digileader Award (Sweden, 2023), Janine’s research addresses critical issues such as generative AI’s impact on educator and student well-being. Her publications, emphasize human-centered AI governance.

Learning from Country: An interdisciplinary approach to preparing culturally responsive practitioners in Aboriginal communities.
Biography
Professor Cathie Burgess is a lecturer/researcher Aboriginal Community Engagement, Learning from Country and Leadership in Aboriginal Education programs at The University of Sydney. She has extensive teaching and leadership experience in secondary schools and maintains strong connections with school-communities through teacher professional learning and research projects. Her research involves community-led initiatives positioning Country, Aboriginal community educators and Elders as leaders and collaborators in curriculum, pedagogy, teacher professional learning, educational leadership and research. Along with co-author Kylie Captain, Cathie published ‘Be that Teacher who makes a Difference and Lead Aboriginal Education for all Students’ making the Amazon best seller in 2023. She is acknowledged through an Honorary Life Member, NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and Life Member, Aboriginal Studies Association NSW and was awarded Australian Teacher Educator of the Year 2024.

Cultivating Creative Academic Leadership
Biography
Peter Cook is Head of School and Dean, Education, and Associate Professor Arts Education, at University of Southern Queensland, Australia, substantively focussing on Dance and Creativity in Teacher Education. Peter’s interest and expertise in dance education developed through his 20-year Dance teaching career in secondary and primary schools, including state-wide Dance/Arts positions. Peter’s research centres on understanding learning with and through dance, education, creativity, and their associated practices. His work extends into the interdisciplinarity of creativity in education and more broadly transitions, initial teacher education and creativity in leadership. A/r/tography as an arts-based educational research methodology is central to much of Peter’s choreographic inquiries. Peter’s creative practice explores interactive digital choreographed works and their pedagogical potential.
