Biography

Rejoice Nsibande (PhD) is the Deputy Director: Academic Development in the Department for Education Innovation at the University of Pretoria. Among other responsibilities, she oversees professional staff development activities in the department. She is interested in how academics are supported as teachers in higher education. The continuous learning of academic staff developers to prepare them for their roles is of equal interest and linked to the professionalisation of academics as teachers.

Biography

Dr Thomas Cochrane: BE, BD, GDHE, MTS, MComp, PHD (Monash), SCMALT. Associate Professor, Technology Enhanced Learning in Higher Education, in the Centre for the Study of Higher education (CSHE), University of Melbourne. Thomas has expertise in Qualitative research in technology-enhanced learning, with a focus upon action research, and design based research methodologies. His specialisations include mobile learning, designing mixed reality learning environments, heutagogy (self-regulated learning), communities of practice, and the scholarship of technology enhanced learning. His research portfolio includes over 60 peer reviewed journal articles, 37 book chapters, and over 150 conference proceedings.

Biography

Elisa is a Lecturer in the Education Futures group within the Education Innovation Exchange at Swinburne and is a highly experienced academic, researcher and educator, holding a range of roles across higher education, scientific consulting and publishing over the last 25 years. She holds a PhD in Zoology from the University of Melbourne and has worked as an instructor and researcher in the biological and ecological sciences in Australia, New Zealand and the US, and more recently as an academic developer and higher education researcher at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne. She has held senior roles on several multi-institutional interdisciplinary research grants.

Dr Kelly Galvin is a Senior Lecturer in the Education Innovation Exchange at Swinburne University and has a 28-year career spanning education and health industries. She has enjoyed a variety of academic, professional, and educational leadership roles in Higher Education across Australia and the UK. Her current work involves engaging in research to guide the learning experience to be transformational and contextually relevant. She also supports academic staff with national and global award recognition and teaches in the Graduate Certificate of Teaching and Learning.

Dr Anna Rowe SFHEA is a Senior Lecturer, Academic Development at the University of New South Wales Sydney, Australia. She leads various institution wide initiatives including professional development programs for staff, Advance HE Fellowships and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Anna has published widely in higher education learning and teaching with specific areas of interest including work-integrated learning, pedagogy, feedback, peer review of teaching and the role of emotions in learning.
