Walter, a Project Manager at PVCE Innovation since 2021, leads strategic initiatives at UNSW. He integrates design, systems thinking, and agile project management to enhance learning and teaching experiences, notably through educational data analytics solutions. Outside work, he enjoys camping, drumming, mountain biking, and cooking over fire.

Patrick Tran is a Senior Data Scientist at UNSW, working on the award-winning Academic Success Monitor (ASM). He specializes in advanced machine learning, including time-series models, responsible AI, and generative AI for personalized support. His work integrates pedagogy-driven feature engineering based on frameworks like the Community of Inquiry and Bloom’s Taxonomy.

Dr Samantha Kontra is a Lecturer in Law at Flinders University, in South Australia. She has qualifications in both Law and Behavioural Science (Psychology) and a PhD in Law with a focus on legal skills education, primarily legal negotiation. She primarily teaches in the areas of legal skills development, tort law, and family law, and strongly believes that legal skills should be taught from first year and throughout the degree. She has written a textbook called Essential Legal Skills: A Guide for First Year Law Students published by Thomson Reuters (2022), specifically to introduce first year students to legal skills. Samantha also runs the Mentoring Program for the College of Business, Government and Law, and has a strong interest in transition and orientation to university studies. She has run the New in Law Program since 2015, and has enhanced this Program by introducing legal skills activities that tie in with the first year law curriculum. This has been recognised through two College-level teaching excellence awards. Samantha strongly believes in developing scholarship of teaching, and has completed her Advance Higher Education Senior Fellowship, and is currently an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australia.
