Queensland Mines Rescue Service (QMRS) delivers a high-impact Enhanced First Aid Training program, leveraging advanced simulation technology to elevate emergency preparedness and response capabilities in high-risk environments.
Central to this training is the integration of the Tactical Operations Medical Manikin (TOMManikin) – a high-fidelity, trauma-training simulator designed to replicate life-threatening injuries in real time. The TOMManikin enables realistic, hands-on scenarios, simulating airways, catastrophic hemorrhage, and trauma management with dynamic physiological responses.
Delivered by an experienced QMRS trainer, the course focuses on:
• Advanced casualty assessment and trauma response
• Bleeding control (tourniquet use, wound packing)
• Airway management under pressure
• CPR in austere environments
• Team-based response drills to mimic real-world operational conditions
By using the TOMManikin, trainees engage in realistic, scenario-based simulations that promote muscle memory, critical thinking, and calm decision-making under stress. The training ensures personnel are prepared to respond effectively to serious incidents, both on-site and in remote or hazardous conditions.
This enhanced training supports industry compliance, improves first responder confidence, and reinforces a safety-first culture within mining and industrial sector.
